Couples Therapy
Relationships are profound vehicles for both personal growth and pleasure. Where those two things intersect is where most people are challenged. There is nothing wrong with you or your partner! Each of you brings to the relationship a worldview, personality, beliefs, behaviors, expectations, life experiences and desires that are uniquely your own. Conflict often arises when we lack an understanding of those differences and/or feel misunderstood due to ineffective communication.
I help couples use compassion and open-mindedness to explore their differences while learning practical, evidence-based relationship skills that foster deeper understanding, greater intimacy and lasting connection. My work is integrative, drawing heavily from Relational Life Therapy (RLT)—a dynamic approach that helps couples move beyond blame and disconnection toward accountability, intimacy and authentic connection—while incorporating other therapeutic approaches tailored to each couple's unique needs.
I am especially recognized for helping couples integrate their sexual selves in order to develop, deepen, expand and fully optimize their intimate relationship—regardless of age, sexual orientation or how long they have been together.
It is a common misconception that improving communication will automatically improve a couple's sex life. In reality, communication and sexuality must be explored simultaneously to create meaningful and lasting change.
Couples leave each session with a written list of personalized practices to work on between sessions—sometimes individually, sometimes together, if they wish.
